Album Reviews: September's Top Of The Pops

September's post-vacational stress was alleviated considerably by some quality releases...

Muse: 'The Resistance' (rating 9/10)
From the very start of Muse's much-anticipated fifth studio album 'The Resistance' you are aware that this is quite simply the complete aural experience, which confirms their status as top dogs on Planet Rock. Read more.

The Cribs: 'Ignore The Ignorant' (rating 9/10)
It is clear that Mr. Marr has been instrumental - in all senses of the word - in the development of their sound. Read more.

Arctic Monkeys: 'Humbug' (rating 6/10)
Let's be frank, 'Humbug' is dull, monotonous and lacks the energy present on previous albums. Read more.

Bombay Bicycle Club: 'I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose' (rating 8/10)
The North London four-piece boast an intriguing combination of wicked riffs, majestic melodies and vicious vocals which result in an 12 track album which will rank among the best 2009 has to offer. Read more.

These weren't too bad either!

Athlete: 'Black Swan' (rating 8/10)
Another characteristic batch of Athlete anthems, epic melodies and melancholy to keep the regulars happy.

Florence And The Machine: 'Lungs ' (rating 8/10)
One of the debuts of the year. Initially and mistakenly thrown into the Amy Winehouse - Lilly Allen ring, but clearly a cut above.

Rinôçérôse: 'Futurino' (rating 8/10)
A blast of an album from France's top electro-rockers. Impossible not to get into a groove with this.
