Yorkshire born and bred, the three Jarman brothers, better known as The Cribs return with their fourth studio album. On this occasion they are fortunate to boast a guest of honour - none other than Johnny Marr. His introduction certainly makes a difference.

None of the brash, raw sound from the previous albums is noticeably lost, yet 'Ignore The Ignorant' is distinctly more mature and tighter than earlier material. It is clear that Mr. Marr has been instrumental - in all senses of the word - in the development of their sound.

Straight from the off, with 'We Were Aborted' (see video below), you get a sense of the way this album is going to pan out. The 'in-yer-face' vocals and energy from previous albums is still there, particularly on tracks like 'Victims Of Mass Production' or 'Hari Kari' , but the accompanying sound is on the whole much more solid and horizons are broadened with the likes of 'City Of Bugs', a six-minute guitar driven roller-coaster, or closing track 'Stick To Yr Guns', which brings things to a fitting close.

Check out The Cribs' new-improved formula. Only the ignorant would ignore it.

NME-Rating: 9/10
Top Track: 'We Share The Same Skies'
