Album Reviews: Summer 2009 Top Of The Pops

NME-E has been on holiday mode during August, so here's a round up of the releases that have caught the eye over the last two months...

The Temper Trap: 'Conditions' (rating 9/10)
Dougal Mandagi's falsetto vocals are angelic, the melodies are exquisite and there's not much else to add - 'Conditions' speaks for itself. Read more.

Fanfarlo: 'Reservoir' (rating 8/10)
In a nutshell, 'Reservoir' is a dose of feelgood, the sort of album to take you away from the mundane hundrum of everyday life. Read more.

The following have also been pumping on my stereo.

Passion Pit: 'Manners' (rating 7/10)
Promising debut from Boston based five-piece, led by Michael Angelakos. If you're into 'Mercury Rev' and sounds of that ilk, you'll get a kick out of this lot.

Future Of The Left: 'Travels With Myself And Another' (rating 6/10)
Brash second album from this Welsh trio. Not for the faint-hearted!

The Dead Weather: 'Horehound' (rating 6/10)
Another Jack White spin off, this time with The Kills' Alison Mosshart. When is he going to realise that his best bet is The White Stripes?
